Makai – Ocean side (When you ask the direction to someone in Hawaii. You are going to hear this word.)
Kalakaua – It’s name of main street in Waikiki. Do you know what is this meaning? Kalakaua is fifth king in Hawaii. (There is his statue in the middle of a small triangle park at the intersection of Kalakaua Avenue and Kuhio Avenue in end of Waikiki. )
Kuhio – It’s name of second main street in Waikiki. This is also person’s name. Kuhio is prince who is son of King Kalakaua. (There is his statue in the middle of waikiki on Kalakaua street. )
Duke Kahanamoku – Native Hawaiian. competition swimmer, who is widely credited with popularizing the ancient Hawaiian sport of surfing. (There is his statue in the middle of waikiki on Kalakaua street. )
